Dr Will’s are taking on the sauce market with a range of no refined sugar sauces: Tomato Ketchup, Beetroot Ketchup and BBQ Sauce. Shocked that a decent dollop of normal ketchup contains around two teaspoons of sugar - a third of the daily maximum advised by the World Health Organisation - the Dr Will’s team decided to develop a new range of sauces themselves, with no added sugars, no sweeteners, no preservatives and nothing artificial.
Dr Will’s Sauces are the result of a year of extensive R&D. Pre-market consumer testing was met with huge enthusiasm - not only were people delighted at the taste of the new sauce, but also in the knowledge that it wasn’t saturated with sugar and salt. This feedback encouraged the Dr Will’s team to forge ahead and bring their product to the market.
Hidden sugars are now struggling to remain hidden, with increased media coverage highlighting the problem and consumers becoming increasingly aware of the dangers of too much sugar. The World Health Organisation now advises adults to consume a maximum of 25g, or six teaspoons, a day.
Dr Will’s was established in January 2016, and first launched into stores in July 2016. It is currently available in a range of independent delis across the country and online at http://www.dr-wills.com/. Dr Will’s has been successful in winning a number of entrepreneurship competitions; The London Entrepreneurs Challenge and The George Farha New Venture award and was selected as a national finalist for ‘The Pitch 2016’ competition.
