We are currently recruiting for a Student Recruitment Officer to work within one of our prestigious institutes based near Russell Square. This is a fixed term contract for 2 years working 35 hours per week, starting as soon as possible.
The holder of this post coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of postgraduate student recruitment activities in liaison with administrative and academic colleagues under the supervision of the Head of Marketing and Communications.
Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research-driven short- and long-range recruitment and conversion plans for the School’s taught and research postgraduate courses in consultation with course directors and others to achieve student recruitment targets; devise individual promotion plans for each taught course and develop creative ways of surfacing the School’s research supervision capability nationally and internationally.
Consider the type and range of paid and earned media required to leverage maximum coverage and promotion of the School’s unique postgraduate offering.
Develop a first-rate journey and experience for prospective students; liaise with the School’s Registry team and Institutes to ensure consistent and effective communication with prospective students before and after application.
Provide appropriate advice and guidance to the School’s Institutes to support student recruitment initiatives, organising and delivering open days and taster events.
Represent the School at postgraduate study fairs in London and across the UK.
Actively follow and promote the University of London policies, including the University's Dignity at Work and Equal Opportunities Policy and actively promote these wherever possible.
Maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations.
Any other duties consistent with both the grade and scope of the post
Additional demands of the role:
This role requires very occasional weekend and out of hours work at locations on and off campus
Experience and Personal Qualities
Significant experience in student recruitment in a higher education setting
Ability to write high-quality marketing copy quickly and easily
Demonstrable knowledge of all aspects of the marketing mix
Ability to make strategic decisions in a fast moving and dynamic environment
Demonstrated interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
Attention to detail; excellent organisational and administrative skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a varied workload, often on tight deadlines
Ability to work equally well alone or as part of a team
Experience in postgraduate student recruitment
Knowledge of the student recruitment cycle and external factors that affect postgraduate student recruiting
Experience in coordinating and managing events
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Experience with email marketing platforms (for example, MailChimp)
Experience with student records management systems (for example, SITS)
Experience with supplying content for websites and social media platforms (for example, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, iVent)
Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Access
Awareness of the requirements of Data Protection law and commitment to observing them
Understanding of and appreciation for the position of the School of Advanced Study as the national centre for the support and promotion of research in the Humanities
Education and Professional Qualifications
The postholder should be of graduate calibre (or equivalent qualification) or equivalent by experience or ability.
Working hours - Full time role working 35 hours per week
Pay Rate - £30,785 per annum
