We are currently advertising for a Development Officer to work within one of our prestigious institutes based near Russell Square. This is a temporary position starting as soon as possible, working for 2 to 3 weeks on a full-time basis.

The Institute of Historical Research was founded in 1921 and is one of nine institutes that comprise the University of London's School of Advanced Study. The IHR is dedicated to training the next generation of historians, and to producing and facilitating ambitious, innovative historical research.
The Institute helps foster public understanding of history and its social, cultural, and economic importance, advocating for the long-term future of the discipline and supporting its growth and development. It offers a wide range of services both onsite and remotely that facilitate excellence in historical research, teaching and scholarship in the UK, through our library, events programmes, fellowships, training and publications.
The IHR is a leading centre for the creation of digital resources for historians and promotes the study of people and locality through our Centre for the History of People, Place and Community.
About the IHR Development Office
The IHR’s Development Office is focused on maximising philanthropic income to support the range of activities undertaken by the IHR and preparing for our centenary campaign which will be in 2021.
Supported by the IHR’s Trustees and with close links to the University of London Development Office, the IHR’s Office is a small, friendly and ambitious team of two. It is led by the Head of IHR Centenary Campaign who reports to the IHR’s Director.
Duties of the Role
- Input correct data about individuals into our fundraising database, Raiser’s Edge (training will be provided).
- Updating the database with donations.
- Assist the Development Office team to update financial spreadsheets such as Excel.
You will be required to help with 2-3 weeks of data inputting. This would entail updating a fundraising database (Raisers Edge). There may be some financial data entry into Excel spreadsheets too.
This will be a full time, 2 - 3-week placement working wither 9 am - 5 pm or 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Please only apply if you are immediately available.
Pay rate - £10.75 per hour plus holiday pay
